50 Book Challenge: 4th Ten

The Ocean at the End of the Lane: Neil Gaiman
192 Pages
Another beautiful book by Neil Gaiman; full of strange concepts and wonderful ideas. Once again taking our normal world and turning it upside down with fairy tales and nightmares.

The Lightning Thief: Rick Riordan
375 Pages

So after seeing Percy Jackson at the cinema I would try reading the books. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the Olympian concept works well. You can definitely tell it is meant to be a book for children but that doesn't take anything away.

The Sea of Monsters: Rick Riordan
279 Pages

The 2nd book in the Percy Jackson series. The book is way better than the film but it isn't as good as the 1st in the serious even though I still really enjoyed it. The easy reading and entertaining stories make them great books!

The Great Gatsby: F. Scott Fitzgerald
218 Pages
I meant to read this book in time to go and see it at the cinema; which didn't happen. Never the less it was definitely a great American classic that deserves a read. I don't tend to read books analytically that well so I probably missed a lot of that the 'student' would get out of it but still really enjoyed it.

The Twelve Tribes of Hattie: Ayana Mathis
243 Pages

The concept behind this book of telling a woman's life story through individual stories of her children is incredibly clever however I just didn't get on with the book. I found it a bit of a slog probably because there was very little direct action and you never felt a large or long lasting connection with many of the characters.

Fyre: Angie Sage
528 Pages

The final book in the Septimus Heap series. I am really sad that this is the last book as I've loved the characterization and the world these books are set in. I hope to read these books again some day.

An Abundance of Katherines: John Green
256 Pages
I was kind of disappointed with this book. I didn't really see the point of the story and felt quite under satisfied at the end of it. Interesting characters but not an interesting story.

Across the Nightingale Floor: Lian Hearn
340 Pages
I loved this book. Enough suspense and drama with a plot and characters that really makes you care about the out come of the story.

Harry, A History: Melissa Anelli
368 Pages
All. The. Feels. Basically a book about the Harry Potter phenomenon. Makes me realise how lucky I am to have HP in my life.

The Titans Curse: Rick Riordan
312 Pages
I might have got a bit addicted to this series! However I was a little bit disappointed with this story. It feels like plot points were shoved in all over the place and it all felt a bit ridiculous.
